15.9.07  Uni Whites Pub Crawl
Well folks, last weekend we had the final Official Uni Whites Drinking XI event of the year.
The 3rd (or is it 4th) Uni Whites Annual Pub Crawl began on a beautiful Saturday at noon at the Kentish.
The initial starters for the event were: Myself, Bec, Joe, Cam, Dan B, Dan A, Wez, Steve B, Graeme, Leo, Helene, Jonny, Emmanuel, Long & Paul. Bec provided us with killer golf cards that would ensure 1. We'd have decent scores, 2 we wouldn't get lost & 3. That we'd spend the next 8 hours bickering over the rules.
Most of us had a meal at the Kentish, where Horse made all the early running, knocking back 6 pints, while Steve Bresolin etched his name into the record books with 4 - count them 4 butchers of beer! It wasn't long before we made the first walk of the day, out to the Lion, where we were joined by Anthony & Clemmie for good measure. Things were pretty uneventful... almost peaceful at both the Lion AND the British, with most people averaging par or 1 under for both rounds...
After the British though, we hit the 4th hole... Affectionately known as 'The Esky' whilst at least 3 people asked me about this new club called the esky and its whereabouts... it was just an esky in the parklands full of beer.. . Edoardo joined us there, as well as my mates Nath & Joc & Claire - the usual soccer game ensued, where it didn't seem to matter where beers were placed, they got knocked down... I couldn't tell you the score, and I gotta say at this stage things start getting hazy... but after some time we all made it to the Wellington.
At the Wellington Chris Gayen joined us, and this is also the place where bonus points started to be issued... First Graeme did a bolt across the park topless for a point, but was soon outdone by Long who managed to go for a spin on a gopher! (see the photos) for a bonus point of his own.
We then had a beer in the Dan O'Connel before quickly moving on to the Oxford... Anthony inspired us all with his Kiss-esque tongue, while on the drinking side Jonny & Joe began to step it up a notch... Chris was making up for lost time too... And by the time we made it to the upstairs in the Cambridge It was all starting to get blurry! We attempted to get to the 9th hole (the Calledonian), but a private party was on...
I don't know who won in the final wash-up, but front-runners were: Graeme, Jonny, Joe, Dan B & Dan A. Special mentions to Longy for drinking his first beer (and the gopher effort) and to Bushe & Joe for stealing the balloons from a 21st birthday... naughty!
My final Drinking XI team (selected by me as Lev's away), of which 1 of these people will be crowned Uni Whites Drinking XI MVP this week is as follows: Saf (Capt), Joe W, Dan A, Graeme J, Jonny A, Chris G, Tony D, Juan L, Heath W, Kyle W & Dave C

11.8.07  Lev's 30th & Saf's 32nd at the Sceptre
A big thanks to all that showed up on the night. So many players glammed up and turned out for what always hinted at being the social event of the season.
Neither selectors have a great grasp on proceedings but have given team selection the utmost professionalism and strained thought. Did we mention before hand that bribery got you everywhere. Kyle gets selected for the Jaeger-bombs and I think Heath bought us one later in the evening. They also brought along a friend who bought us 1 or 2 Jaeger-bomb/s (At least I think the 'Geezer' was with them).
Duffy was in fine form and should be renamed "the dribbler". Never has so much shit spilled forth of one mouth (and I know Benn Barrett)! Longy made it out. Big props for Edoardo and Mrs Edoardo for the Phat hats, Graeme also stole a Phat hat off a six year old before the shindig. Thats all we can remember.
Coming into the last month of the season, the end of season Drinking XI team is starting to take shape but places are never assured. So get out there and compete.
The most valuable trophy at the club is also still up for grabs: Drinking XI MVP 2007.

2.4.07  Sponsors' / Family Day
Well Sponsors/Family Day started out well with no-one from the Kentish showing up for their own sponsors day. Great work. The Whites laid on a spread for the families both on and off the pitch with two great wins over Scotch while the esky/barbie fired up on the sidelines.
With the formalities out of the way, all retired to the Kentish Hotel for more beer and boasting. The Whites basically packed out the pub from the moment they arrived. A really good turn out for a few drinks and some dinner. Great to see........
Notable mentions go to Chop and Kev who when handed their twenty-five dollar match awards put them straight onto the bar for all to drink, the quick ones amongst us actually got one out of it. Well done boys. Another notable mention must go to our "best dressed White of the night" and the winner of the inaugural "Trucks Rock" hat, the one and only Jaun Pablo Livore. The Argentinean import surely making himself at home with his new glamour club.
Once festivities at the Kentish quietened, the boys moved onto the Grace Emily for a few wind down beers (hahaha). The Grace saw some excellent work from a number of the old faithful drinking XI. Glamour abounded at every glance as the next drinking XI team unfolded before the selectors eyes (the ones that were opened anyway).
A special mention to the drinking XI's most valuable player for the night, Censored Censored. Censored was asked to leave the Grace 4 times (how does that happen) only to end up at 108's getting a lap dance from a one armed lady. Top form big fella. Quote of the night came from Censored (who else) when the one armed stripper came up to the table and warned Censored that she may accidentally poke him with her prosthetic arm. Censored responded with, 'Yeah, yeah, get on with it.'
Ed: The MVP's name has been withheld due to a pending court case.
11.5.07  Uni Whites Drinking XI event III: DAN & JOE'S BIRTHDAY
Well, one of the more memorable Uni Whites Drinking XI efforts occurred for Dan & Joe's birthday at the Queens Arms last Saturday.
For those of you who were unlucky enough to miss it (or just plain soft), here's a brief synopsis.
The birthday boys, being silly buggers that they are, decided on a 1977 -1982 People & Events theme... The relevance of the theme escapes me, but considering it was the brain-child of 1. D.Aikin & 1. J. Windows, suffice to say it was a stupid idea & no one really cares anyhow.
The important points were as follows: Dan was dressed as Rocky Balboa and rarely has a more fitting costume been worn... We all know Dan's history of ending people's careers; As Rocky did to Apollo Creed, so Dan did to Mercedes striker last season... nuff said...
Joe's costume however was somewhat perplexing... As, while Joe definitely has the underpants & blue wellies of Superman, I think that's about as far as the resemblance goes. Fortunately for both of them though, the costumes soon went out the window as 'Happy Hour' consisted of a seemingly never ending stream of Jager Bombs, delicately interspersed with the occasional pint of Ale. Not surprisingly the boys got stuck in.
Especially strong performances from both the birthday boys, but special mention must also go to jar-jar binks (aka Dan Bushe), Tim Levett (as himself... Oh... Clark Kent... gotcha), Sir Richard Haddlee (Benny B) & Tony Duffy doing a great punk impersonation, as well as a raft of not quite so dressed up boys - Not to mention Cam Hopgood who came dressed as me!
The final tally of whites boys attending was 15 or so... Not a bad effort for a damn cold Saturday night... It was good to see a couple of new players out also, as Simon Small, Chris Baxter and the limping Dave Burton made their presence felt.
The current squad for the drinking XI didn't only take into account Saturday's effort however, as much weight is given for those attending the Kentish Arms each Saturday night also. Here's the current XI, if you're not in... START DRINKING!
Tim Levett (C), Steve Safralidis (VC), Daniel Aikin, Joe Windows, Graeme Jackson, Chris Gayen, Tony Duffy, Jonny Aspin, Heath Weber (esp since injured), Dan Bushe, Campbell Hopgood
Special mention must go to Juan Livore... I think if we can keep him on the pitch, he's going to slot in nicely at left back for the Drinking XI
See you near the esky boys

16.3.07  The Kentish
Their was a good mix of old and new players on show for our first night of glamour. Congratulations to all that turned out for a good night of food and beverage in wonderful company.
A good turnout for the first official whites engagement of the season but the selectors found it tough to name a solid starting XI so early in the season.
Notable performances from the usual suspects; Duffy for supplying half the team with beers (also to Anita, for not stopping him) also good performances from Saf, Joe, Jon, Dave, Dan.A and Lev. Who kicked on from the Kentish and kept drinking. Just hanging around till late doesn't mean you make the drinking XI. Case in point: Chop, Dan.B and Sab who stayed out with other whites but stopped drinking for the last two/three hours.
Another mention goes to the Crab, who from unidentified sources, "was slaughtered after 1/2 beer at the garden and had to phantom it". We don't know if this is true but truth has no real place here anyway.
As a club, we need to focus on getting back to the Kentish and supporting our sponsors. Give the legs a rest and give the elbow a workout. You'll have played a lot better after a couple of pints. We also need to make sure we visit the esky after a game.
All beer consumed in the presence of the selectors (Saf & Lev) goes towards your chances of lining up for the Uni Whites Drinking XI in 2007.
And remember: Presence in the drinking XI directly correlates to what we at the stadium of White refer to as 'Good Times'.
Next Drinking XI Sanctioned Event: This Saturday Night - Starting at the Kentish hotel for club stalwart & Drinking XI Regular Graeme Jackson's 35th birthday. Note to all, this is a very important pre-season event & the selectors will be closely monitoring the form of all players, with a view towards a starting XI spot for the season proper.
