"Recruiting Coup or Costly Blue?"

Bulletin: Former great Christopher Gayen has been brought out of retirement joining the Adelaide Uni Whites on a one year deal reputed to be worth $140.00.

The former Northern Territory and Beograd playmaker (who retired in 2000) was lured back to the playing field by the 'Home of the Glamour' who are intent on making one more big push into Europe... (well, that or to finally win a B's trophy)

Chris started his soccer career coming through the ranks in the tough Darwin League & played representative football there until South Australian Giants Beograd finally recruited the young talent. Originally a dashing midfielder, Chris established himself as a wily defender at Beograd before a contractual dispute pushed him into the State League with the Cobras. Three tough seasons ensued, and with his increasing marketing empire and family commitments taking over, retirement came (some say) prematurely in 2000.

The lure of the White was strong though, and after a few training sessions in 2003, Chris decided to make himself available to the club... at the right price!

He was recently quoted as saying "It's not about the money anymore, it's more about the playing personnel, the coaching staff, and one more chance at a championship."

The question that is now being asked about the portly former champion is... "Is Chris' heart really still in it? or has he returned for that one big final pay cheque to end his career."

The jury is still out. Only time will tell...
