Whites Historical Archives, Section B, Part 139: 1992 ![]() When I joined the Whites in 1991, I was warned by Dennis and Kon (former legends of the club) that we would be lucky to keep our games under a 10 - 0 loss. I had joined the team with my brother Edgar, the incomparable Eric Priebe and the mighty Jan Pfitzner (who is not as German as we thought). So it was a highly Gothically influenced team which took the field that year. In 1991 we still had a few starting problems and failed to win some big matches, but we still came a respectable 4th and awaited the year to come. After some excellent Summer recruiting the legendary Canadian Alan and Frank "Zuckerschaetzchen" Klockgetter joined the ranks of Struger (goals), Chris Pazios "the one and only", Chris the Younger, New Zealand Steve, Joel, Eric, Edgar, Roger "3 goals" Tinning, Jean Pierre Guzman, Ray Baresi, Dennis "the new Johan Cruyff", Jan, Bill Hill (head coach), Mr Hill (club caretaker, occasional linesman, vocal supporter, club stalwart and legend), Kon, Tim (the bruiser) and if I have forgotten anyone and I must have, then please forgive me. It all started with a 5 - 0 demolition of St Peter's Bs, our arch enemies at the time. As we hadn't beaten them in years, this marked a big turn around for the club and a few tears for many a rattled opposition. Here are the scores as I remember them. From then on we had an excellent reputation and moved up into the A Division and had a huge influx of players, so we could form a B Team. The "Glamour" legend was born. Edgar Mayer scored 52 goals in the league and became top goalscorer just about anywhere. So whenever the wind blows over the stadium of White and you see a little boy with stars in his eyes running along the line, dreaming of one day belonging to the most glamorous club in the world, don't turn away. You were that boy all those years ago. Share the dream. Pass it on. Long live the Uni White(s). That's it. Armin Mayer
